Football Rankings: Week 4

8.

Southern California Lutheran at Malibu, 8 p.m. ET

This game pits the Titans, who are fourth in the Marmonte League, against the top team in the Santa Cruz League, Malibu, ranked No. 11 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports. Four Titans have committed to USC, one of them being quarterback Jahmel Taylor, a four-star recruit. Two Titans are committed to UCLA.

7.

Brea Olinda at Santa Margarita, 7 p.m. ET

This game pits two teams that compete in the Pac-5 League, a top-heavy but competitive league that includes defending state champions Mater Dei and St. John Bosco, both of whom are No. 1 in the state rankings. With a victory the Eagles (3-0) would become the first Santa Margarita team to start the season with back-to-back wins. The loss would be Brea Olinda’s first of the season.

6.

Los Alamitos at Fullerton, 7 p.m. ET

The Griffins are in the hunt for a nonleague win this week against the Fullerton High Eagles (3-2), who are coached by Mike Bargas, who previously coached the Long Beach State program. Fullerton won the Foothill League last season.

5.

Long Beach Poly at Central Valley Christian, 7 p.m. ET

In one of the Southern California’s best football programs, the Jackrabbits (2-0) take on the Crusaders (3-0), ranked No. 7 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports. Poly is 7-2 all-time against Central Valley Christian.

4.

Bishop Amat at St. Francis, 7 p.m. ET

A matchup of the third- and fourth-ranked teams in the Pac-5 League. The Lancers (4-0) are ranked No. 2 in the state. St. Francis (3-1) is ranked No. 4.

3.

Long Beach Poly at Central Valley Christian, 7 p.m. ET

The Lions have won four straight games and eight of their last nine. On this particular night at Bishop Amat, CVC brings out the best in the Jackrabbits.

2.

Newbury Park at Westlake, 7 p.m. ET

This game could easily be rated higher but it falls a few spots in the rankings because of a winless season that Westlake has had the past two years in the Marmonte League. Long Beach Poly has lost only one game in the past four seasons. Westlake hasn’t beaten Newbury Park since 2012.

1.

Upland at Rancho Cucamonga, 7 p.m. ET

The Rankings: CIF Southern Section Division 1 (4)
